Drew Carey has selected as the new host.
Bob Barker was the host of CBS’s “The Price Is Right”. The show is the longest-running daytime game show in television history. Bob retired in June 2007 after hosting it for 35 years and over 6400 episodes !
Bob Barker has won a total of 17 Emmy Awards.
Even a casual watcher of the show knows he is a very active advocate of animal rights issues. He signs off every show with “Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered”. His DJ&T Foundation, named for his late wife, Dorothy Jo, and his mother, Matilda (Tilly), gives financial assistance to organizations that spay and neuter dogs and cats.
I remember when Bob was the host of “Truth or Consequences”. (which in my mind co-exists with memories of Monty Hall and “Let’s Make A Deal”)
Bob took over the helm of The Price is Right in 1972. I spent countless hours watching the show during school breaks and summer vacations. I kind of lost track of the show during the 80’s. In the late 90’s I tuned in and was shocked that the format and set of the show was virtually unchanged. I was also very surprised at the number of college aged students that were in the audience. I continued to watch it whenever I could. The show is like a comfortable pair of sneakers.

I have watched the Price is Right for as long as I can remember. Bob you will be missed!
I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did in getting the Alaska Zoo elephant Maggy. I was very pleased to hear that because of your generous donations the move was possible. I wish you and your family the very best that life can give and all the happpiness you can take.
Thank You.

Every since you left the show the show has been staged, phony, and not real! I just can’t see why the producers just didn’t give the show to a better host, like Chuck Worley from the Love Connection.
I longer watch the day show and I was trying to watch the night show to see if Bob Barker was going to host it but I was disappointed. It was so staged that Ray Charles could have seen it!

Hi Bob, thank you for all your wonderful episodes on t.v. from truth or consequences to price is right and the movie cameo’s you’ve been in. I’ve enjoyed them all. Now a special thank you for Maggie the elephant and all the other animals you’ve helped over the years. You are truly a special person.

Hello Bob,
My family dearly misses you, and really think of all of the wonderful
years we watched you on tv. Your charm, carisma, and respect of
others will never be matched. I’m an animal lover to. I donate
to the Wildlife fund yearly and spend time at the Animal Humane
Society. I just can’t beleive how big the problem is, of so many
orhan cats and dogs. It is to bad people don’t spade and neuter
them automatically. There are so many dogs and cats out there
without owners that all of the owners shouldn’t have any baby ones
for awhile now. Adopting should be mandatory.
I beleive that would help solve this problem.
My mother Carol Stageberg receive a nice letter from you back in
1956 when you were on “Truth or Consequences”.
She adored you and still does. My siblings (Lori, Sue, Kim, and John),
have been watching “Price is Right since the early 70’s, since we were
little ones, and looked forward to it during our vacations from school.
I really missed Johnny Olson, and Rod Ruddy. They were the best
announcers. And Janice bringing you your microphone at the beginning.
I almost made it to your show back in 2004, but my plans got messed
up by a magor plane delay to Los Angeles. I was headed to StarTrek
Convention, and wanted so badly to get to your show, but I came in late
Thursaday and there were no Price Is Right show on the Friday, Saturday,
or Sunday that I was in Los Angeles. So I missed getting to see you in
person.
I really thought it was cool to see you on Craig Ferguson show a few times.
And will look forward to hear from you, because my family will
be amazed if I get a letter from “BOB BARKER”.
I will have to tell all of them if I do, especially–mom!
Thankyou, Bob!
Like Johnny and Rodd said,”Come on Down!”
Wish the best health for you and your family!
And control the pet population……Have your pet spade or neutered.
Sincerely a Bob Barker fan,
Scott Curtis and the Curtis family..
